The development programme runs for 48 weeks, all year round and follows a six-week development programme. You can attend any of the weeks, all of them, or just come along when you can – you don’t have to wait for a certain week to start! The programme is designed to be available to every player, regardless of ability – from a beginner just starting to play the game, to the more advanced players.

Players Aged 3 – 5 years

Young players (pre-school aged 3, reception class aged 4-5 years) play in the large Indoor Training Hall if the weather is particularly wet and chilly.  But, football is played outside and we do like to adapt our training sessions so that the players are moving around and kept occupied.

Each 1-hour session will consist of a warm-up, technical coaching followed by skills development and then end with a mini soccer match.

The young players will be coached by UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches on a fun based development programme of mini soccer games which is designed to introduce the young players to the fundamentals of football in a great indoor artificial grass surface facility. The players will be coached following a development programme of ball control, passing, running with the ball, dribbling, shooting and small sided team games with the emphasis on fun while learning.

Players Aged 5-8

Every Saturday on the outdoors all-weather pitches at UCLan Sports Arena.

5-7 year olds will also be coached by UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches alongside younger 8-year-olds who have the choice of staying with this age group or moving up to the 8-9s age group. Each 1-hour session will consist of a warm-up, technical coaching followed by skill development and then end with a practice mini soccer match.

The coaching programme will focus on ball control, passing and possession, dribbling, ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball, turning, shooting and small sided team play.

Players Aged 9-11

Every Saturday on the outdoors all-weather pitches at UCLan Sports Arena.

The 9-11 yr olds will be coached together by UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches and will focus on a challenging programme of more advanced ball control, passing and possession with the introduction of technically demanding ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball, turning, dribbling, defending, shooting and small sided team play to develop position sense and tactical awareness.

Players Aged 12-16

Every Saturday on the outdoor all-weather pitches at UCLan Sports Arena.

The 12-16 year olds will be coached by UEFA and FA qualified coaches, focussing on a development programme of ball control, passing and possession with the use of highly demanding ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball, turning, shooting and team play which will assist them with their decision making in match situations.

The 12-14s will be coached in one group, with the 14-16s in another. Those 11-year-olds who would like a further challenge may move up to this group for a week or so to see how they cope. On agreement with the parents and Director of coaching, they can stay in this group if they wish.

We also offer players who are aged 12 years or older a chance to become part of your young coaches’ scheme which will see them assist our coaches and then be placed on FA Coaching courses – becoming a part of our coaching staff in the future.
