The development programme runs for 48 weeks, all year round and follows a six-week development programme. You can attend any of the weeks, all of them, or just come along when you can – you don’t have to wait for a certain week to start! The programme is designed to be available to every player, regardless of ability – from a beginner just starting to play the game, to the more advanced players.
At sessionsm scouts from local Professional Clubs come along to see how players are developing with those players who show potential are asked to go along to their development centre. Players have progressed from this centre to local junior league teams and the Centre of Excellence at Preston North End, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Liverpool.
Players Aged 3.5 – 5 years : 11.30-12.30
Young players (pre-school aged 3.5 yeard, reception class aged 4-5 years) play in the large Indoor Training Hall if the weather is particularly wet and chilly. But, football is played outside and we do like to adapt our training sessions so that the players are moving around and kept occupied.
Each 1-hour session will consist of a warm-up, technical coaching followed by skills development and then end with a mini soccer match.
The young players will be coached by UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches on a fun based development programme of mini soccer games which is designed to introduce the young players to the fundamentals of football in a great indoor artificial grass surface facility. The players will be coached following a development programme of ball control, passing, running with the ball, dribbling, shooting and small sided team games with the emphasis on fun while learning.
Players Aged 5-8 : 11.30-12.30
Every Saturday on the outdoors all-weather pitches at UCLan Sports Arena.
5-7 year olds will also be coached by UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches alongside younger 8-year-olds who have the choice of staying with this age group or moving up to the 8-9s age group. Each 1-hour session will consist of a warm-up, technical coaching followed by skill development and then end with a practice mini soccer match.
The coaching programme will focus on ball control, passing and possession, dribbling, ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball, turning, shooting and small sided team play.
Players Aged 9-11 : 10-11 am
Every Saturday on the outdoors all-weather pitches at UCLan Sports Arena.
The 9-11 yr olds will be coached together by UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches and will focus on a challenging programme of more advanced ball control, passing and possession with the introduction of technically demanding ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball, turning, dribbling, defending, shooting and small sided team play to develop position sense and tactical awareness.
Players Aged 12-16 : 11.30-12.30
Every Saturday on the outdoor all-weather pitches at UCLan Sports Arena.
The 12-16 year olds will be coached by UEFA and FA qualified coaches, focussing on a development programme of ball control, passing and possession with the use of highly demanding ball skills and drills to improve running with the ball, turning, shooting and team play which will assist them with their decision making in match situations.
The 12-14s will be coached in one group, with the 14-16s in another. Those 11-year-olds who would like a further challenge may move up to this group for a week or so to see how they cope. On agreement with the parents and Director of coaching, they can stay in this group if they wish.
We also offer players who are aged 12 years or older a chance to become part of your young coaches’ scheme which will see them assist our coaches and then be placed on FA Coaching courses – becoming a part of our coaching staff in the future.

Girls Football - Wildcats
In partnership with the Football Association and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), we are running the National Wildcat Project. Girls between the ages of 5 years and 11 years regardless of their footballing experience or ability can learn how to play football in a fun and friendly environment.
The National project will run for 16 weeks but we have made a commitment to continue the sessions for as long as there are girls wishing to attend.
The sessions will be held at between 10am and 11am Saturday mornings and having fun is our number one goal! It costs £3 pay on the day and players will play with children of the same age or no more than one year older or younger than themselves.
We also provide girls only training on a Wednesday night for girls aged 7-11 who are looking to participate in competitive football.
Refugees/ Asylum Seekers
We provide weekly, free of charge, football coaching for refugees/asylum seekers.
For those aged over 16, coaching is held at PlayFootball on a Friday evening 7-8pm.
For children of refugees and asylum seekers (aged 4-16), coaching is held at UCLAN Sports Arena on a Saturday morning.

The coaching programme will be delivered by UEFA and FA qualified coaches who are also first aid and child protection trained, with CRB Enhanced clearance. The programme will be intensive but enjoyable, with challenges, skill development and mini soccer tournaments.
Running Monday – Thursday, the fun weeks are open to boys and girls of any ability and are available for the following age groups:
- 5-6 years
- 7-8 years

- 13-14 years
Subject to the Soccer Centre obtaining grants, the cost per day will be approximately £12, with a discount offered when a full week is booked. Costs will be kept to the minimum required to run the course as we do not lok to make a profit from it.
